Friends These Days
Friends These Days
Ever notice there’s those that have an
everlasting patience for the strangers they come up on and then leave, but as a
rule it seems they’ve not a penny of time for a friend, a penny of time or
bother—it’s only get over it now Mattie you’ve had your rest it’s time to move,
oh yes, they say that it’s time to get on with your life, while their son or
girl squawks on about fish or ribbons and they go home to bake or boil a hot
meal while I’m trying to get over it—why just last week I seen, with these
eyes, Patty bend and pat the knee of a little girl in a parking lot, pet her
sweet bloody knee, and once it were my girl, Jesus she picked her up and
swatted her ass and told her to get along now just get along
